Synergy is all about two or more parties working together towards a goal in order to gain more out of it than they usually would individually. This is very beneficial, as it makes greater difference. Basically both parties gain things from one another. Tadaaaaam!! Oh and in media terms it means basically two different media organisations, which could be a production company and a recording studio recording a track in advantage of both parties for the film. This way both would be marketed and would gain something out of this corporation.

The boat that rocked marketing

 This film was directed by Richard Curtis, and was made in 2009.
The poster of this film is very eye catching, as the movie is very bright, colourful and outstanding itself. Advertising correctly could decide the faith of the film, as if the film was advertised wrongly, people would get the wrong ideas and could get dissapointed.
 On the poster I see 4 main characters dressed in old fashion clothing. They are on a big boat, which straight away gives me the idea of the film being based on a boat. As well the headlines makes the word 'boat' stand out.

Working title

Working title produces mostly american style movies with british actors. This allows them to make a lot of profit, as a lot of people like that type of movies. Working title is owned by Universal.

Producer.

• Is the person, with who movie begins, as they come up with the idea.
• Producer ingage with development. They deal with script processing.
• Producer needs to have a team behing them in order to help as well as to save up some time, as it would be much easier and quicker if there was someone to help the producer out.
• Producer needs to deal with money metters, as some money will need to be paid for the script writers.

The Uk film council is one of councils wich help to develops finding the uk movies.

Once a script is sorted the director needs to be found. The director need to be familiar or good with the genre the movie is written to be in. If a director that would direct only comedy would be hired for a horror film, the outcome would be a scary comedy. So the producers need to find a suitable director for the movie that is process.

At the end, it is the producers role to look at the profit they have, and try to spend as less money as possible on the film.

mise-en-scene of the clip we watched was set in old times. Two woman that were dominating within the video was wearing a simple and plain clothing, which didn't have any sense of colour to it. their hair wasn't very well done, which tells me that they were too busy to take care of things like that. This brings out the sense of their status as well as class. As it was filmed in quite old times, I would actually call the characters middle class. the reason for that is, the first shot of a lady carrying baby and the two kids playing at the side of the road. Their social status was very low, as their house vas in a very bad condition. I would say that the lady ow the lower class was a single mother with three kids. Another character in the clip was being carried by two man in a 'carry box'. this shows me, that the lady is in upper or middle class, as she was treated as a royalty comparing to the other characters within the clip. So in conclusion I think that in this video there was all statuses clearly shown within that time period.
Shots: The shots that were used were mostly wide and long shots. I think that this was done in order to give the audience a clear idea of what time of period the film was in, as well as just to introduce all the characters. Also there were a lot of shots used, where the audience was meant to be focused on a less important things, which were actually very important, as it would help the audience to understand the story much more.
Sound: The sound used within the clip was only diegetic sound. I find this very stereotypical for the time of the period, as in old times they would use non diegetic sound too often. And if they would, it would be a classical type of music.
The setting: the house where one of the main characters in the clip lived was very simple and small in size. I would say that there was no luxuries. The house seemed very grey.

PROPS: The lady had a cat, which gave me an idea, that the lady is a middle class, as she had enough of money to take care of a pet as well, where as the lower class people would not be able to keep a pet at that time period. The cary box was a interesting prop that was used in order to show us the status of the lady that was being carried in it.

Genre: I would call it TV drama social historical realism.

  Stereotype:  When stereotypes are used as visual shortcut, the audiance assumes that it is true.
  Counter stereotype: this has a opposite of a stereotype. Something that you would least expect.
  Representation: Is the way that media represents things. Usual representation of women would be sensitive and flirtatious, independent. Usual representation of men would usually be tough, hard, aggressive.


This film was filmed in 1960's. This time period used to be very stereotypical. There are a lot of stereotypes involved with smoking and drinking within the script. This is very stereotypical, as they talk about quiting it, as it shows the audiance that it is bad. There is also swearing involved which is a stereotype of a teenager or a young adult that aren't upper class or shows that they have no manors. Throughout the script  there was only one character that was a female, and she didn't speak a lot, which tells me that this movie are dominated by men mostly. Which would bring up the stereotypes of the time the film was set in. I find it quite surprising that one of the characters was bisexual. as it isn't very stereotypical within the time period.

TV Drama can be -> ongoing, one off.
                            -> comedy, political.
                            -> Made up of episodes.
                            -> Dramatisation of real life.
                            -> 'SOAP' this word was discovered in America in 1950s when they started screening daytime TV Drama series for house wives and the advertised soap powder in between the commercial breaks.
Form: This relates to the shape or structure of the text. Oftenly linked to the narrative. This involves looking at the lenght and structure of the episode or series.
Style: This involves analysing mise-en-scene as well as lighting, setting.
Genre: This is about finding out the genre and the audiance for this sort of TV Drama. Could involve the narrative.
Conventions: This is perticular elements which makes it recognisable. This could be linked to form, language, theme or visual elements.
Non verbal language is all about (gesture, pose, stance, mannerism) Basically it is about the way that things are shown and the messages are passed on through things we see not hear in the film.
Visual language is about the way that the camera is used as well as lighing. Semiotics: study of signs and symbols.
Aural language inculed verbal language. The sound mix as an example. Atmosphere, tracks, voice over, sound effects. This all divides into two parts.

Non verbal language:
*Symbolic code of little boys hand, which reperesented the title of the movie, which is 5 days.
*The actors are all in different age groups, might be that they are relatives in some way.
*There is few scenes, where the actors are being linked somehow through non verbal language. First is when the little boy was reaching his hand in the sky, and the airplane was flying pass. This made me fell like the characters in the plane are in some way or will be linked to the little boy. The other link I knowtist was when the family was driving in the car and the lady in the car said 'whe know who loves his flowers' and then the shot straight away cuts to a old men, which is watering his flowers. This makes me think that they are on the way to wisit him and bring him some flowers.
Verbal language:
*Both, diegetic sound was used quite alot. For example, when the old men was watering his flowers. The sound was filmed behind the widow, which created very suspitious feeling.
